I just deeply believe everyone should get a domain, host their own extremely lightweight static blog or microblog or combo of the two (without server-run software like Wordpress), and use it however they want.
Want to post photos? Make it a photo blog. Want to make only short posts? Do it! Link blog? Sure! It is whatever you want it to be.
RSS is good and I just wish more people used it. The barrier for entry is just very high. It doesn't have to be.
