I ended up sending it to my MP, the minister of public safety, and the minister of sci/innovation/industry. My MP is almost certainly not going to respond, so I made sure to note that my SciAm article includes the fact that his office never got back to me. Maybe will make the ministers (who are both in a different party than my MP) listen more?
