This comes across as xenophobic and anti-Chinese baiting from the #Biden administration. The truth of the matter is that modern cars are privacy nightmares, no matter the manufacturer. While it may be true that “vehicles on American roads…could be immediately disabled by somebody in Beijing”, they could also be disabled by someone in Detroit, Austin, or Seoul.
The root of the problem is the fact that cars are allowed to be sold to the consumer with these egregious invasions of privacy. Want to fix the China problem? Fix consumer rights laws so that *no one* can remote-control your cars.
