Local IGAs are all human powered, Coles (100km away) has 4 human powered ones, but often only 1 or 2 staffed, with big self-serve area. I will wait in line for long time to be attended to by a human, earning an income.
A few weeks ago, noticed one of the stacker staff not happy, so asked. She told me now working 3 jobs 7 days a week and about to loose her home, and had no where to go. Local rental vacancy rates 0.01%
