Alongside CRB, which knocked out Santos, the Alagoans achieved an unprecedented feat: for the first time, two clubs from the state of Alagoas are in the quarterfinals. A milestone that rewrites the history of northeastern football. While some faced tough challenges, others had smoother paths. Atlético-MG, for example, passed through Tocantinópolis, Manaus, and Maringá. Vasco eliminated União Rondonópolis, Nova Iguaçu, and Operário-PR. Meanwhile, Retrô faced and overcame Jequié, Atlético-GO, and the powerful Fortaleza, with this last victory being one of the biggest upsets in recent years. The absence of big teams in the quarterfinal draw, which will be held on a date yet to be defined by the CBF, opens the door for state derbies and more surprises.
