Current drop can be a bit fiddly to debounce, the most ingenious retrofit I’ve ever seen is a thing that sticks over indicator lights and pings when they change state. I’ve been meaning to do that with the light on the dishwasher, because the last part of the cycle draws almost no power, but the light goes out when it finishes
