rule of thumb: in many of the cases where folks put the phrase "men and women" it prob makes more sense to just say people. or folks. or humans. or adults
not out of any desire to be Woke or PC or virtue signalling. just to be more precise and accurate about the "type" of entities you intend to include
eg. saying "The men of the US armed forces are (...)" has the benefit at least of having.point to limiting to men. Whereas "men and women of the (...)" has no point. Just say people or members.
