metrics are mostly overrated, the tools too specialized, thanks to competition vendor lockin and hide-behind-enterprise is in full swing, nobody thinks about their data, building this at scale has outlived itself once you're done. and fuck promql by the way.
better option: dumb, generic log processing pipeline, generic/flexible usable tools, build up on wide events, make metrics a derivative and logs are awesome and cheap to make. I love logs. and a real database!!
