Bruce Lehrmann pulls out of speaking event after legal loss

Bruce Lehrmann has decided to withdraw from the Restoring the Presumption of Innocence conference in Sydney after the Federal Court found, on the balance of probabilities, he raped Brittany Higgins. Lehrmann was set to appear at the event in June organized by columnist and author Bettina Arndt. Mothers of Sons, a group highlighting stories of wrongly convicted sons, accepted his decision to withdraw. Lehrmann was spotted exiting a carpark after the court's decision and later went to Gosford police station seeking police protection. Justice Michael Lee found that Lehrmann had raped Brittany Higgins on a couch in parliament in 2019. The conference will find a replacement speaker and discuss Lehrmann's case. Tickets for the conference cost between $100 and $120 and the location has not yet been disclosed for security reasons.
