when I say that Croatia were more unlucky than bad, what I mean is that a 3-1 or perhaps 3-2 scoreline would better fit both my observations of the match and the xG and attacking momentum metrics. Spain were the better team, but I do think the 3 goal margin was harsh given Croatia’s performance. Not unreasonable, just harsh. That happens in football.
