Perhaps I do come across as overconfident in my position. Maybe it has to do with how much time I have spent on some of these topics.
The thing is, the tides are turning and people are gradually starting to realize that a lot of what we thought was indisputable fact, isn't. Even your poll demonstrated this. Granted, Nostr is likely to attract a certain type of person, because we have been censored and pushed off of platforms for years now, but you can see the same sentiment on places like X, too.
In order to navigate topics, I use certain indicators as evidence of a weak position, such as refusing debates despite being public figures who put themselves out there and make firm, declarative statements as though they are unquestionable fact.
When you say a few rogue scientists, you are referring to all the mainstream so-called experts. There are no government-supported experts who speak out in opposition. Those who do oppose them have their medical licenses and credentials stripped, or they are defunded. Anyone who speaks out against climate change is defamed. Michael Mann and his types just block dissenters, calling them conspiracy theorists, although most of these people are incredibly well versed in their fields. Is there really no room for debate on what they deem as such important issues?
"It's dangerous!", they tell us. Harmful, even. Regardless of the topic. Yeah, perhaps it's dangerous for the establishment, their agenda and their positions of power. Their hypocrisy doesn't make you the least bit curious and suspicious?
The more censorious they become, the more their efforts will have the opposite effect. Truth doesn't run or hide, liars do. It's not that everyone is conspiring; there are small bodies of people who do conspire, while for others it is as simple as keeping their jobs so they keep their mouths shut because they have families to look after. The majority of people don't care to question these things because they are preoccupied with staying afloat - by design of the system. It wasn't too long ago that I was one of those people, and then they started to really cross the line when it comes to policy.
I believe this trend will continue, and it will make a lot of people very uncomfortable when the lies become too obvious to deny.
