2-3 years ago i called myself a socialist. i’ve always wanted equal opportunities for all and for wealth to be more evenly distributed and in my idealistic academic bubble brain, this was how to achieve it.

thankfully since 2022 i’ve learned more about how the government is actively and constantly fucking over the general population via devaluing our currency with the money printer, sending our tax money overseas or using it to create missiles that are ultimately sent overseas, restricting basic constitutional rights and invading our privacy in the name of “security,” creating barriers to business growth/development via ~environmental regulations~, etc.

while i haven’t taken self initiative to learn all i can about #bitcoin, thankfully my partner is passionate about it and has spent countless hours explaining to me how it works and how it can and will change the world (and already is).

i grew up in a poor family in a very poor, rural, uneducated town. i’ve spent my entire life waiting for some kind of revolution, for something to come along to finally help the working class rise up and empower ourselves. i spent practically all of my college years learning about and standing behind various social justice movements, but none of the solutions presented to me ever truly clicked or felt sustainable long-term.

now that i’ve been orange-pilled, i finally have the hope i’ve been searching for. i can feel macro-level change happening. the helplessness i feel when i hear about global catastrophes or governmental oppression is equally matched by the hope i feel when another country adopts bitcoin, or another corporation decides to add bitcoin to its treasury, or when people crushed by hyperinflation use bitcoin to keep themselves afloat.

this has been long-winded and probably disorganized brain vomit but the point of it all is i’m grateful - for bitcoin, for my partner’s daily info dumping (and for his constant flow of bitcoin podcasts lol), for my willingness to listen and my receptivity to the knowledge presented to me, for the global revolution i can feel and see happening. the version of myself from 2-3 years ago would be so confused about present-day me’s mindset and beliefs - the change has been night and day. but i’m glad i finally got here.

i don’t like posting things like this because i’m not great at articulating my thoughts and because it makes me cringe at myself so thank you #nostr for giving me a space to do so with anonymity. and if you’ve read this far, thank you for using a few minutes of your time to read a little bit about my personal journey 🧡
