Don't forget that married women who changed their name have to jump through extra hoops unless they have a passport since a birth certificate alone doesn't prove its them since the name doesn't match. I had to provide my birth certificate, marriage license & social security card which had my married name in order to get a passport. This would disenfranchise a majority of women in the US.
