I have been of the mind Roddenberry's death was the best thing that could have happened to TNG. It freed the writers from having to write using Gene's utopian bullshit.
Meyer had a strong grasp of drama and was in some ways a very liberal version of David Mamet - that is to say a jew who knew how to write for Whites. I credit his wide reading of quality White authors. He considered Roddenberry ridiculously naive to think war and hatred would ever end.
