Switch to Friendica. You can define your own channels. BTW, I only use the timelime with accounts I follow from the whole network. I filter out some hashtags. I'm annoyed by #fotovorschag and similar things. I also follow a lot of hashtags, but not #photography. Too many posts and too much arbitrary snapshots... I do not want to have any algorithms. I'm the master of my timeline.
