Any chance of a 3rd internal SSD slot in the near future? The highend model of almost every manufacturer offers now 3 (or even more) internal SSD slots. Which in your case would mean the Stellaris 17 line. Acer, MSI, Lenovo, Dell (which has up to 5 in their Precision top model) and Schenker (Clevo chassis) all have at least one model with 3 slots.
I am a fan of separating my OS physically, so this way i don't have to rely on external solutions that often.
EDIT: Clevo is offering 6 models in total with up to 3 M2 slots. Starting at around 1500€.
