I am thinking that in a democracy taxes are agreed to. The majority agrees we should drive on the right side of the road, have speed limits, and have taxes. I think conceptually these policies could be changed, if the majority agreed.

I imagine one could disagree with the majority and fight (and loose).
Or disagree and persuade until a new majority is formed.

It is pleasant to think of oneself as an autonomous entity, born free. But that doesn’t seem to be the reality. Seems to me we are all born into a system and as such are participants in that system, whether we like it or not.
