I'm also not convinced the Federated network of Mastodon platforms is a bold new direction away from the increasingly tribalized social networks. One could argue that Mastodon is actually the next step in the ongoing fracturing / breakdown / division into tribes we've seen started on places like Twitter. I mean, what other platform lets you block entire servers of people. Not even Twitter let you do that.
