The other stuff was donated to me by two of my friends I was meeting at the Linux conference. I'd suggest looking to see what places are around you and if they don't explicitly state that they sell recycled items, then ask if they'll take cash for items at the center and say it's for a project. Not saying all places will say yes, but you might have a better time approaching it that way if needed.
