For many “The Law” has replaced religion . But remember they had “Law” in communist Russia and National Socialist Germany. In Italy in the Second World War the law stated that 18 year old boys were conscripted to the army. If they tried to hide in the countryside to avoid this , their mothers were shot as a deterrent.
