I think the problem Christians have is misplaced compassion. Empathy to me is just taking time to understand a situation, it takes work, and THEN deciding if they should have compassion or not.
Empathy can be misplaced like any other emotion, it doesn’t mean it’s not Christian.
I think empathy is for a more intelligent and sophisticated being and needs to be exercised to stay fit whereas compassion is an easy feeling without context. The definition sounds a lot like being an ‘ally’ no?
