I bought a cobra rad 480i for $120 with dash mount (windshield mount is illegal here) and have it set to only the freq used by highway patrol. Sheriff and PD rarely use radar and this reduces false positives with automatic gates and convenience store customer detectors
It's already helped me avoid 4-5 tickets easily, each ticket around $400-500 depending on the county
