Your blood IS an inheritance, and I don't ever come away from the Bible feeling like the Lord likes seeing a righteous man squander the things his posterity has claim to.
Temperament is a big part of us, and a whole lot of that is innate. I'm burdened by a level of lust much greater than the norm, apparently - Older generations in the family all had the same issue, and it blessed and ruined their life in equal measures.
I worry that I make following Christ a whole lot harder for my children by selecting a mother who amplifies my worst traits. Any time we talk about race mixing we need to look outside ourselves and consider the generations to come. I long ago ruled out most races because I didn't feel a kinship of the soul with them - even in their homes, with good relationships, I knew I was among strangers. I can't imagine how rough it would be to look at your "family" and see nothing but aliens.
