Wikipedia claims this:
DNA evidence supports a South American origin for marsupials, with Australian marsupials arising from a single Gondwanan migration of marsupials from South America, across Antarctica, to Australia.
Gondwana predated AND followed Pangaea, so marsupials would've spread to Australia either before Pangaea or after it split up in a single migration event. Why they didn't spread during Pangaea's days, no idea.
