This is actually something I fear with CO₂ removal (#CDR ). Rich countries will not want to use their own land and renewable energy for CDR, so they outsource it to the Global South. In doing so, rich countries could hinder the development of Global South countries by taking up their resources to remove the CO₂ emissions of rich countries.

Supporting “CDR abroad” needs to be done carefully so it’s not exploitation.
