Kamala Harris is not going to beat the guy that Hillary Clinton lost to.

This guy is the only candidate that might stand a chance against Trump at this point: Beto.

The hardliners who are going to vote red or blue no matter what don't matter: Kamala will get all those votes that Biden would have got. Some others though, will not vote for a woman--this is fairly well established. The democrats will lose some votes if they run a woman, even more if they run two.

The only path to victory here is to convince some fence-sitters that the democrats still represent their "Real America", which Beto might just pull off. Pandering to their base is pointless for the Dems--they must win over the undecided, and that means putting someone up to bat who looks like every other US president in history.

If blue wants to win they will beg Beto, or anyone with roughly the same demographics, to run.

My prediction is that Biden's resignation will fracture the party and it will be a long time before they find a new leader to rally around. Biden was a weak choice to begin with and Harris has none of the energy or momentum needed.
