Repost. Defend Atlanta Forest. Stop Cop City. Strategy. Analyses.

The anonymous author presents interesting points and questions in response to a call for a single day of non-violent direct action and it’s rationale.

I’m not a scholar of this shit. But I tend to favor decentralized crews. 1000 fires and no firefighters. A heterogeneous block. No clear delineation. Liberals do their thing. Clergy do their thing. Medics do their thing. Anarchists and communists do their thing. Legal observers do their thing. Pacifists do their thing. Weirdos do their thing. Cooks feed people. Tricksters doing pranks. Spicy people get lit. Fence sitters keep showing up and figuring it out. Nonprofit and liaisons doing their liaison-ing. Neither solely militant nor non-violent.

I think there is a gamble of serving up more people on a platter for arrest in the face of existing legal defense unless the will and capacity is there. I think any non-violent strategy worth it’s salt risks it.

If the hotties make it hawt, the circle of active participation could narrow (even if expressed support stays strong as in the case of the third precinct during George Floyd rebellion). Which, endlessly repeating past successful conflictuality could do.

What grows the movement, can be replicated, builds capacity, and strategically drives tactics to arrive at the desired end? I think it’s rarely either/or.
