Two brothers, two events, too sad.
Sylvester "Vess" Wilson was born on 11 June 1856. On his birthday in 1931, his older brother, Eli Christopher Wilson, died. What a bittersweet birthday it must have been for Vess throughout his 9 remaining years.
The brothers had been born in Alabama, moving to Arkansas as children. They moved to Decatur, Illinois, during the Civil War. Vess became a farmer and Eli was a laborer. They were my great-grandmother's two oldest half-brothers.
