What a perfect allegory of the heart of today’s Conservative movement: a tantrum-driven display of violence and hate that destroys objects of value for a performative display of tribalism that benefits no one and costs the performer money. It degrades public discourse (this was a *charity auction*), normalizes petulant behavior, demonizes and divides, and makes everyone dumber. Meanwhile, the people with money look on in bemusement as they pocket their profit.
