Being into David Sylvian’s solo
Stuff got me into Japan. I only vaguely knew who they were. They did this glam rock, meets art rock, meets new wave. I think at the time they were considered like Duran Duran but I think their music is more artful.
To me Japan/David Sylvian had a similar arc as Talk Talk/Mark Hollis with artful new wave to experimental audiophile music.
I wish I had access to this type of stuff growing up.
