May i ask what application the Laser has and what kind of machine that is? Also i know exactly what you are talkng about, it seems to be the curse of people working tech.
There was a time in my life where i had returning dreams of burning children asking me "Why?". And the most fucked up stuff about my situation is, that all my doubt and pesimis is the result of knowing that the "builder" in this company has no idea what he was doing, and uses red cables for ground and black cables for V+ though i tell him every time, that there is a reason why everybody else does the exact opposite. Then he tells me he knows. Next time he's gonna make the same mistake again but claim i said it was so...
He has some weird concept in his head where red means negative, and because he doesn't understand the concept of a 0 potential, he calls GND minus...
