A fair criticism of the drink it itself; for the rest of us, however, the martini is an excuse to drink an excessive amount of olive juice in public.
The martini is basically just a shot of gin or vodka in a fancy glass with a James Bond reference. It follows none of the rules about balancing flavors of sweet and bitter, or sweet and sour. It is a drink for alcoholics.
