Why do you feel like a laughing stock?
Keep studying BTC. The more you understand, the less you will worry about what other people think. And when someone isn't interested or replies with shallow objections (such as it isn't "backed" by anything or "it has no inherent value" or "it's just a bubble. People are only buying it because of the hype" - just move on. You can't convince people. You can only further open the eyes of people who are already open to learn.
