A Nostr adoption story:
A friend of mine is a gold dealer. He and his sons run a small gold, silver and coin shop. They were early Bitcoin adopters (I first showed them Bitcoin some years ago) but, like all metals dealers, they have a fiscally conservative streak.
Two days ago, I was in their shop and showed them Nostr and lightning payments built into some clients. Tim, the father, showed me a website that he and other dealers use to buy and trade rare coins and the like. Everyone on the site is verified by other dealers so scams are never seen. The trust on the network is so high that one dealer will send a product to another without payment, knowing that the receiver will send payment as the reputation hit on this network will be far more costly than any short term grift could be.
Tim asked, "Could there be a similar kind of verified network using Nostr and LN as payments?" It's a damn good question and I'd say the answer is yes.
Anyway, a family of gold dealers is hip to Nostr and they're intrigued.
