low-lowish poly 3d with understated or no shading is probably my favorite way to do 3d. once you get to like oblivion level everything just looks like ass and is so taxing on resources and assets I'd rather just have the thing in pretty 2d. and after that you just stack bullshit features and hair physics on it while struggling to miss the uncanny valley.
I think dark souls looks really good but that's because it's impossible to tell what the fuck you're looking at half the time. imagination is king!
