When you go to astral.ninja it asks for either private or public - choose the private tab, then enter the private key from Damus there. Choosing the private key feels weird but I think that might fix it for you.
Note, when you go to astral.ninja you probably need to logout (might want to delete local data too) if you ever let it generate its own keys.
