But that's just western packaging of the idea. Like how they want "women's health" to include unlimited access to infanticide. They would want you to think there's something odd about Dugin mourning his daughter when he "doesn't even care about women's health!"
But if you don't care about free speech at all, but still care about the effectiveness of your institutions, then you'll naturally support scenes like lower Chinese government officials getting berated by angry peasants who think the official is screwing things up. If such scenes can't happen, then mistakes can't get fixed, and people lose faith in the officials and start to evade their rule. Then a western journalist shows up and says "oh so you want effective government? Then you have to let me try to destroy your country with my reporting."
