The second point mentioned in Nostradamus' predictions is the French Revolution of 1789. In this quatrain he wrote: "From the enslaved people, songs, chants and demands, while princes and lords are held captive in prisons. In the future, tyrant great terror shall be cast, At night and through the day an infinite horror". This prophecy was seen to have come true with the French Revolution in 1789, a period of intense violence and unrest which saw the overthrow of the French monarchy and the establishment of a new government.
