When I first learned of it, I didn't understand it. I didn't read the white paper. I first thought it was some future internet game money. Then it sounded like a fancy stock. Then many copies and bastardizations of it came about, but it was still some kind of investment, and I needed to finish university. Then I read the whitepaper and I couldn't excuse myself for not learning about it any longer.
My regrets are in fiat terms, yes, but also in my time and energy wasted when it could have been stored. What I want to accomplish now could have been easier had I paid attention then. But would I have come to these same conclusions? History of seeing the example of others tells me that no, it would have likely been squandered in run ups, forks, and getting lost in less important endeavors.
I'm still searching for my true understanding and discovering my need for it, and how that connects to the way I view the world. I find my view of the world differs from many, so it can be hard to describe. However, i believe humanity and building a sustainable world needs it.
I would self describe myself has having an intermediate-deep understanding of it now. I have dreams of and am working toward using mining heat reuse to transform our world and bring more equitable social systems.
In The West, many of us have quite the privileged life, while many (including here) live in squalor. Across the global south bitcoins need is more transparent and the integration of it more fascinating. I believe those most oppressed throughout the world can be redeemed through bitcoins adoption.
