Moser et al, 1979, describes an outbreak of influenza on an Alaska Airlines 737 flying into Homer, then to Kodiak, Alaska. At Homer, a family of six got off and 31 passengers boarded, for total of 49 passengers. Plane had engine troubles, aborted takeoff and returned to airport to wait for four and a half hours for a replacement plane. Most passengers remained on the plane but some waited near the terminal. For the first two hours, the ventilation system of the plane was off....
