I saw LGBT in the 00s, but it was relegated to odd corners of the internet prior to tumblr. Nobody knew what it meant since the only thing ever really discussed was gays and lesbians. There was a lot of girls who liked gays simply because of what they saw on TV and they used to say shit like "it's not fair I don't have a gay best friend", but it was stupid girls saying shit just in response to the television. I think the more median response was "people should just be nice to everyone".
