We began by discussing the mysterious figure Satoshi Nakamoto, the anonymous creator of Bitcoin. Students learned how Satoshi introduced Bitcoin in 2008 through a white paper titled “Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System”, as a response to the financial crisis and failures of centralized banking systems.
The session also covered the importance of the Genesis Block—the first-ever block mined on the Bitcoin blockchain in January 2009—which marked the birth of this revolutionary digital currency. From there, we explored how Bitcoin works, emphasizing its decentralized nature, how transactions are processed, and how blocks are added to the chain.
We went deeper into understanding the roles of miners, who verify and secure transactions by solving complex puzzles, and nodes, which maintain the integrity of the blockchain by storing the entire ledger and enforcing rules.
Overall, the session gave students a strong foundational understanding of Bitcoin’s purpose, structure, and operational principles. It was a powerful step in our mission to empower more people with the right knowledge about Bitcoin and its role in reshaping the financial system.
