Folk wisdom in most trans communities I've been in is that unless you're doing everything "by the books" due to being susceptible to appeals to authority or being a lawcuck, govt funded trans clinics are famously terrible and it's literally a better deal to do everything out of pocket while remaining blind to the system. Informed consent as a model alongside DIY is literally only able to exist because of private enterprise and arbitrage and oftentimes these things work totally out of pocket (assuming your insurance doesn't cover it, which is a distinct possiblity in America and all but a guarantee elsewhere)
