“What about you and Jess, Kit?” asked Bob from number 23, “got any Grand Designs?”
“Can’t”, I replied, fervently wishing for a change of subject, “our lot is too small, the house is already as close to the boundary as the city bylaws allow”
“Oh. You should talk to our builder!” Bob enthused, sensing an opportunity to be intolerably superior, “She uses this tape measure that has imaginary numbers on it. We put in two new bedrooms and a media room with no change to the bulding footprint. Didn’t even need planning approval!”
