The volume of services provided fell 0.2% in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the fourth quarter of 2024, according to the Monthly Services Survey data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). This interrupts a sequence of seven consecutive positive quarterly rates, noted Rodrigo Lobo, IBGE research manager. Compared to the first quarter of the previous year, the volume of services provided grew 2.4% in the first quarter of this year. The IBGE revised the performance of the volume of services provided in February compared to January, from a 0.8% increase to a 0.9% increase. The rate for January compared to December was revised from -0.6% to -0.5%.
