The challenge is that if you haven't studied philosophy, "the study of being" and "the study of knowing" doesn't resonate. In cases like this, I think it's really important to make things a bit friendlier. These resources seek to develop a classification of biological things based on their "being".
No idea how many cognitive scientists are aware of Aristotle's classification of the soul as (looks it up): the rational, spirited and appetitive parts. I can't say that it immediately resonates with what I know about modern cognitive science (but I haven't studied Aristotle).
