Another thought about "hate speech":

Do you think that a reason citizens of various countries are somewhat accepting of these laws, and even more so of policies that deny people who have ever engaged in "hate speech" employment of any kind, is that "finding something on the Internet" really feels, to some people, like having someone come up and shout something in their faces?

I am for free speech, but I can see how coming up to a person and yelling epithets, and not leaving when asked, is problematic behavior that would naturally be considered harassment of some kind.

Somehow, we've gotten to the point where someone hundreds of miles away can type something (even if it's not directed toward an individual) that can be displayed on any computer or smart phone in the world, and if someone doesn't like it, he or she experiences that emotionally as though the person chose to travel those hundreds of miles to shout it in his or her face.

The campaign we should be seeing is, "You Can Close the Tab."
