"content": "nostr:npub16uk4yyw47haxwl0klhh7lcx3qatkyqmpc6gc4hwru3qedaeuueeqqkpv7k That's not a national thing: https://nzcurriculum.tki.org.nz/The-New-Zealand-Curriculum/ makes several references to “grammatical conventions”.\n\nLikewise, England's National Curriculum still has it: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/national-curriculum-in-england-framework-for-key-stages-1-to-4/the-national-curriculum-in-england-framework-for-key-stages-1-to-4#section-24\n\nMuch of the grammar taught in schools is cargo-cult, with little basis in modern linguistics. Sure, some of it's useful, but I spent rather too much time at primary school showing teachers examples of published authors using “incorrect grammar”, in an attempt to prove that their rules were wrong.",
