Yes. And in fact the word "jew" as used in english translations of the Bible, is a jewish contribution. It usually takes the place of judean, judahite, hebrew etc.
For example when Jesus said something like
> those who say they are jews, and are not
He *really* said
> those who say they are judean, and are not
Judeans at the time, are residents of Roman Judea, it is similar to saying "New Yorker". it includes Greeks, Romans, Hebrews etc.
So.... When the Son of God said
> those who say they are judean, and are not
To Pharisees, He was calling the Pharisees *foreigners*, specifically Babylonians....
