I suspect that the last thirty years of reining in antibiotic use in order to address antibiotic resistance will be looked back as unfounded and damaging, and understood as just one of the many groupthinks that the medical community suffers from.
Has many of the hallmarks of a righteous movement to save the world.
…from antibiotic resistance.
And one is willing to have one’s patient undergo local harm for the common good.
And, in such “righteous movement” circumstances, normal common sense reasoning tends to be undermined. …as you may have noticed in the Great Covid Debacle.
So, I don’t at all trust that even their argument that the inhibition on giving antibiotics is better for the general welfare.
